where to download linux from the internet ? i m looking for a version which i can instal on my hard disk ,i mean no live cd version ,i have a live cd ubuntu version which can not be installed on the hard disk. thanks for any help
Maybe your PC is a really old beater? Ubuntu installs easily on most recent PC from Celeron upwards.

Why not a live CD version? Why can’t you install it on the hard drive?
Do you mean you don’t have a CD drive on your computer? Then you can download a version of Ubuntu that can be installed on a USB stick.
Or is your live cd version broken? You should always verify the md5sum of the .iso image after downloading, in case of the .iso has become corrupted.
