my computer recently crashed because a virus deleted my winlogon.exe from the system32 folder. I was able to fix the problem by using a linux live cd. I went to the i386 folder and copied and pasted a copy of winlogon.exe back to the system32 folder and restarted the computer and it worked. After an hour or so I realized the virus was still there and it restarted my computer unexpectadly. When I turned it back on it went to the black & white screen sorry for the inconvenience and gave me options to go into safe mode (didnt work) and when I pressed enter it restarts and goes back the sorry for the inconvenience page. When I booted the linux live cd, I checked the system32 folder and the winlogon.exe was still there. It has to be something else but i dont know what. Before when the winlogon.exe was missing it would go the loading screen then restart but now it goes to the sorry for the inconvenience page and restarts when i press enter.
take it back a day or so before the infection. that might rid you of it.

Simply fixing problems caused by a virus is a losing proposition. The virus will win by causing more problems that you can fix. You MUST remove the virus. If the system restore works run an antivirus immediately. If it doesn’t work download an antivirus like clamav with the linux live cd and run that.
Good luck
