  1. It’s slower than running from a hard drive, but sure. I’ve done it many times.

You bet! I have used my Linksys wireless card to connect to the internet many times on my Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon live CD.

When just click on picture of a computer monitor in the upper right hand corner and select your network. ;)

As far as beryl goes, no… Gutsy comes with a different compositor (actually a fusion of compiz and beryl) called Compiz Fusion. Just click “System>Preferences>Appearance”

A window will open, then click the “Visual Effects” tab. Select either “Normal” or “Extra” depending on your preferences and click close. It’ll probably be quite slow on your live CD and might not work at all without your video card drivers installed.
