can i recover files on a hard drive if vista has crashed?

i have vista basic on my laptop and it eill not boot up at all. i am running linux on it now as a live cd and waned to know if there is any way to recover files on the system

    Yes you can. Buy a Hard drive to USB cord and it should work.

    Use a friends computer to make a bootable Vista Recovery Disk. Then you can get into System Restore, or Repair.

    It works – I’ve done it myself.

    p.s. I’m assuming you only have the Windows that came with your computer and not a real MS Vista disk.
