I have a compaq armada m300 laptop, everything works, but i don’t have a hard disk. When I turn it on and try to boot from a linux live cd, or the network boot, it says “1792 error-”, and that the disk is not properly connected. I work from my flash drive, and therefore don’t need an HDD, so is there any way around this? If there isn’t, is there an HDD (any one, as I said work from my flash drive so it could be 5GB for all i care) for under $20?
Thanks.
Did you tweak the BIOS boot order? Put the cd first , the floppy second and remove the hard disk from the list.
Any PATA laptop disk will work, buy one from a friend or ofrom any Ebay type site.

Are you sure it supports booting from CD? Theoretically it should, but it doesn’t look like it originally shipped with a CD drive, so maybe not.

You need to create a linux build that matches your hardware.
you can locate plenty of cheap hard drives on ebay, you know.
