Dell has proprietary crap going on.
Some of the older ones work, however. At least with Ubuntu.
Alot depends on the specific vid & audio involved.

There is nothing about a Dell that will not allow you to run Linux.
I suggest you download Microsoft Virtual PC, it’s free, and you can run linux on a VPC environment.

I installed mine on my Dell. I had a small issue with the graphics card but it’s all good now.

I installed Ubuntu on one with no problems.
I installed Redhat on an older Dell (Pentium 2) a few years ago, and had no problems there either.

I installed ubuntu on two dell laptops that I used (several times – I install upgrades from CD) – my own machine and a machine from the office. Worked like a charm.
I agree with Daredevils’s first sentence, and with Hanz and Beth. No one else above knows what they are talking about – sorry.
