All right Linux (Ubuntu) masters, can you help me start up? I’m having some major problems.?

All right, here’s my situation. I have an Asus Eee PC which does not have a CD drive, so I used an Ubuntu live CD on a different computer, and then installed live onto the flash drive. My computer starts to boot from the flash drive. I can choose my language, and I can choose if I want to try Ubuntu, install it, check for defects, etc. For those 3, I end up with the same error, and the screen looks like this:

Loading, please wait. . .

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Ubuntu 1 : 1. 10.2-1ubuntu6) built-in shell (ash)
Enter ‘help’ for a list of built-in commands.

[ 75.776205] sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] Assuming drive cache: write through

… I’m not very good with computers and all of the things when I search for this online involve people talking about putting in code and such… I have no idea where to put such code, lol.
The other computer that I have access to can not boot from a USB drive, so I can’t test that… D:

  1. Can you boot Ubuntu Live from that flash drive on another computer? If not, you may have a bad install and may need to do it again.

  2. It looks like you did a good job setting up the flash drive to install ubuntu, but from the error it looks to me like the install program has a problem with your hard drive. For some reason it cannot access the drive.
I have heard of people using a version of ubuntu customized for the eee pc rather than trying to install the regular desktop version.
You might have better luck with one of these customized ubuntus for the eee pc.
    Good luck

I’ve had that happen before. It’s usually a faulty .iso or just a bad installation to USB. Try to download the .iso using BitTorrent, and then install it to USB using UNetBootIn.

  4. There was a bug in the original release of 8.04 that caused problems on some computers when booted from USB. Make sure that the Live CD you use to create the USB drive is 8.04.1 or later (8.04.2 came out recently).

You can try my instructions on my blog for creating the USB drive. This worked well on my MSI Wind.
